Born and raised in India, Usha had an adventurous childhood growing up in the heart of tea plantations surrounded by majestic animals like rhinoceroses and elephants. She left India in her early twenties and arrived in Paris, France where she landed a job in marketing at L’Oréal. Then, wanting to stay connected to her native country, she began sourcing gorgeous fabrics in India for luxury French brands like Agnès b. In 2009, Usha founded Jamini, a modern textile brand that showcases Indian craftsmanship such as block printing, weaving, and embroidery with a French edge. Usha’s quest for harmony between Indian and French cultures and her deep sense of curiosity has honed her aesthetic to create a unique Franco-Indian style which is a perfect alchemy of two wonderful civilizations.
