Going to Iceland with Wild Terrains was one of the best things I’ve ever done! The trip had the perfect mix of free time and planned activities. Iceland is beautiful, and I loved meeting interesting women who love to travel. I can’t wait to go on another Wild Terrains trip soon.
— Stephanie R.
Since returning from my trip to Iceland, I have been telling everyone about Wild Terrains! I can’t say enough about this well-planned and exciting one-of-a-kind experience.
— Paula R.
I’m blown away at how incredibly enjoyable this trip was. Iceland is beautiful. Every day felt like stepping into a painting or NatGeo photo. Never in a million years did I ever think I would be having a picnic with a glacier as our backdrop! Great food, beautiful views, and lots and lots of laughs.

ICELAND ITINERARY

DAY ONE - REYKJAVIK

Our Iceland trip begins in the capital city of Reykjavik. You'll drop your bags at Sigurlaug Sverrisdottir's ION City Hotel, before meeting up with your amazing Trip Leader, Eyglo Larusdottir - who is also one of Iceland’s top fashion designers.

Tonight, you’ve got dinner plans with Sirry Bragadottir, founder of cooking school SALT Eldhus. She’s teaching you how to make traditional Icelandic dishes, while giving you a crash course in Icelandic culinary history and the seasonal ingredients you’ll be able to find this time of year.

Meals included: dinner

DAY TWO - REYKJAVIK

Can you feel it? You’ve got your feet in the most gender-equal country in the world. This morning we’re sitting down with gender studies expert Finnborg Steinþorsdottir for an intimate conversation around what it's like to be a woman in Iceland today.

After a delicious lunch hosted at Íris Ann Sigurðardóttir’s Lóla Flórens, you’ll head out on a design crawl to visit some of the coolest Icelandic women designers at spots like KIOSK, Apótek Atelier, and Farmers Market.

You'll have the early evening to explore Reykjavik’s coolest landmarks - Hallgrimskirkja Cathedral, Harpa Concert Hall, and Sky Lagoon - on your own.

Meals included: lunch

DAY THREE - SOUTH ICELAND

We're leaving city life behind to meet two fabulous friends - cheese connoisseur Eirný Sigurðardóttir and food stylist Áslaug Snorradóttir - who have a knack for hosting decadent picnics in the wild. Today we’re gathering beneath the majestic Seljalandsfoss waterfall for an all-afternoon al fresco meal you’ll never forget. Hike under a waterfall, take a sip of fresh herbal tea, nosh on a goat cheese crostini, repeat.

When we can’t possibly eat another bite, we’ll check ourselves into Fríða Hjaltadóttir & Sandra Dís Sigurðardóttir’s UMI Hotel for a cozy, relaxed evening.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch

DAY FOUR - SOUTH ICELAND

Today is all about embracing the rituals of Icelandic bath culture, but you’ve got to earn it first! We’ll start the day by hiking the Skogafoss trail with gorgeous glacier views and waterfalls galore.

Then, we’ll join the creator of ANGAN Skincare, Íris Ósk Laxdal, for an outdoor spa day in one of Iceland’s oldest geothermal swimming pools. Using ANGAN’s natural products made from Icelandic moss, sea salt and wild herbs, you’ll scrub and soak your stress away in these naturally heated waters. (Learn more about Iceland’s fascinating swim culture here).

In the evening, we’re meeting up with our dear friends - Eirný Sigurðardóttir and Áslaug Snorradóttir - for another one of their famous picnics.

Meals included: breakfast, late lunch

DAY FIVE - SOUTH ICELAND

We’re on the road again - continuing along Iceland’s southern coast through black sand beaches and moss-covered lava fields - stopping for photo ops and a packed picnic lunch along the way. At the end of our drive, we’ll spend a couple of hours taking in the icy splendor of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach.

This evening we’re resting our tired feet at Fosshotel.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch

DAY SIX - SOUTH ICELAND

Strap on your hiking boots, because we’ve got an early wake-up call and some waterfalls to chase. First, we’re hiking one of the most mesmerizing trails in Iceland. Then, we’ll fill up on the most delicious fish n’ chips you’ll find in Europe, before our long drive to Sigurlaug Sverrisdottir's ION Adventure Hotel

You’ll have the evening to enjoy ION Adventure’s heated outdoor pool before joining your final group dinner dished up by one of Iceland’s rising young chefs, Snædís Xyza Mae Jónsdóttir.

Meals included: breakfast, dinner

DAY SEVEN - KEFLAVIK

Sadly our journey through Iceland has come to an end, and it’s time for us to make our way home. We’ll enjoy one last breakfast together before heading as a group to Keflavik Airport, where we’ll say our goodbyes.

Meals included: breakfast

Simply put, this trip was perfection.

Amazing on every level. The care and concern given to every detail. The seamless way it all came together. The wonderful co-travelers. It only took me two days back at home to book two more trips with Wild Terrains. That’s the best review I can give!

BEST TIME OF YEAR
TO VISIT

Iceland is beautiful every month of the year. That said, we like to stick to the “shoulder seasons” to miss summer crowds and the dark winter days. In other words, spring (April-June) and fall (September-November).

WEATHER

Iceland weather is highly unpredictable and has a mind of its own! No matter when you visit, you should come prepared for rain, snow, wind, & more!
