Marianna grew up in Long Beach, California and has been gathering passport stamps since she was a baby. Her parents hailed from Finland and Indonesia and her summers were spent boarding long flights to see family abroad. After college she spent seven years in New York exploring her creative spirit and then sold all of her belongings, embarking on a year-long backpacking adventure around the world. This marked the beginning of her photography journey as she documented her travels along the way which deepened her love for the craft. Since then she has worked as a freelance photographer for ten years and has been published in Condé Nast Traveler, AFAR, Hemispheres, and more. While darting around the world inspires and fuels her, she feels grounded in calling Long Beach her home once again. If she’s not with camera in hand, you’ll probably find her floating in the ocean or in search of a hike with a good view.
