Meet Sofia Pescarmona - one of the women changing Argentina’s wine industry (according to Vogue!) and the owner/CEO of Mendoza-based winery Bodega Lagarde.
Bodega Lagarde has been in Sofia’s family since 1897, known for crafting exceptional, terroir driven wines that you can purchase all over the world. Now, Sofia is at the helm, as one of the only female CEO’s of major wine producer in Argentina.

1. WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU LOVE ABOUT MENDOZA? WHAT MAKES IT THE PERFECT PLACE FOR A WINERY?
Mendoza has blessed weather, it’s sunny more than 300 days a year and it’s dry. There is no bad season to visit Mendoza. I love Spring, Summer and Fall because they all have wonderful sceneries between the Andes mountains as your background and the endless vineyards. It’s a perfect place for a winery because of its climate conditions and the wine community is tight and all team players. It’s a small town but big enough to have great restaurants and cultural activities.
2. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BEGIN MAKING WINE? HAS IT ALWAYS BEEN SOMETHING THAT FASCINATED YOU?
It was always part of my life as I grew up in a winemaking family, but in 2001 I took over the family winery which began my own journey and fascination for a wonderful industry that brings together farmers, restaurant people and creative souls. I am very thankful to do what I do and I consider the winery as a vehicle for conservation and giving back to the community.

4. WHAT IS A DREAM TRAVEL DESTINATION? WHY?
Costa Rica, because I love the sea and nature.
5. IS THERE A PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN?
When you are done changing you are done.
